Redolent Hills and Delectable Mountains
An exhibition by Sebastian Mary Tay
Sunday 9 June – Thursday 13 June 2013
10am – 8pm
Opening: 5pm Tuesday 11 June 2013

“Redolent Hills and Delectable Mountains” is an exhibition featuring a new body of photographic work by Sebastian Mary Tay. This series of photographs presents an assembly of fabricated landscapes constructed in an aquarium, using edible materials like herbs, spices and flour as the principal ingredients in the process of construction. This alluring methodology demands both contributions from the imaginative and counsel from actuality, presenting a unique balance of qualities from those two contraries, and invites the audiences to a paradoxical world of immensity.

(As soon as we become motionless, we are elsewhere; we are dreaming in a world that is immense – Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space)
