Conveyance/ Gentle Haulage presents Mirja Koponen’s work on the precarious exegesis of experiencing the world while being in a perpetual state of trespass. Photographs developed from performance works The Transgressor and Totentanz between the years 2008 to 2011 explore the notion of death through construction of a performative persona, a ‘transgressor’ that takes on attributes of an impostor amongst the living. The Red of the Rooster, a video and photographic work raises questions on participation, witnessing and aesthetics in the wake of death. These works, together with paintings and a performance, form an ongoing investigation of how to instill oneself into a space, a time, an environment, a culture.
